I’m sure you have read this quote before. I personally always felt that it is said because a cup of coffee can better your mood, fill you with excitement and put a big smile on your face. But that’s not all, there is more to it which I learned during my recent travel. Coffee can tell your fortune!
By the way, any guesses where you can have this wonderful experience?? I am sure you have a couple of names in your mind.. Yes, that’s right.. it’s in Istanbul, Turkey!
For most of us, coffee is not just a beverage, it’s an emotion. But in Turkey you will find a unique connection between coffee with their life and tradition. Kind of a Kismat connection.
Kismat in Hindi is luck or fortune. In Turkey there is tradition of telling fortune by seeing the patterns of left over coffee grounds in saucer which is popularly known as Tasseography Amazingly, Turkish coffee is also considered to be a part of the tradition which tests compatibility between the bride-to-be and groom-to-be by presence of salt or sugar in groom’s coffee made by the bride. If the groom drinks coffee mixed with salt patiently, it’s believed to be great alliance for marriage. Isn’t that unique?
